The Rainforest Bounty cooking school leapt into action in early January with an enthusiastic group of foodies.
It was an unusually hot day for the Tablelands, however a mountain breeze ensured that we all enjoyed our delicious lunch on the verandha.

To book for the Indonesian class in February, please go to calendar and bookings on the website www.rainforestbounty.com.au

Cyclone Tasha's christmas visit

Margo . - Monday, January 03, 2011
Well we can't say that we didn't receive anything for Christmas in 2010. Santa brought us a cyclone first thing Christmas morning. Athy and Geraldine awoke at 5.30am to the sounds of Cyclone Tasha which delivered 400mm of rain and some heavy winds until about 8am. A quick survey of the orchard showed us that only a few branches were down and some enthusiastic chainsawing along the driveway meant that Geraldine's parents could still arrive for Christmas lunch.

Not all rainforest fruit growers in our area were so fortunate and some had significant damage to their trees. We helped one grower pick fruit from some damaged trees so that it would not be lost.

Over at Frog Hollow, Margo and Peter spent the morning surveying the damage to their access road.
A landslide had effectively cut their road and and blocked access in and out.
Some help from their neighbours with a tractor cleared the mud to allow 4 x 4 access until a backhoe could be brought in later in the week.

Again luckily their orchard recieved only minimal damage...!
whew...!

Alastair is a whirlwind of fun and culinary flair, and Geraldine and Athy enjoyed hosting him and the film crew during filming for the series at the Oak Grove native fruit orchard.

The series will run on Channel 7 and starts on Saturday December the 4th at 7pm....so stay tuned to get a heads up on the exact date the series with Rainforest Bounty in it, will be aired...!

Craig Squires the executive chef used our Rainforest Fruits Jeowbong in the dressing for the salad, so of course we are pleased as punch that he won...!
